Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue

Patriotic displays and events are organized nationwide to celebrate American Independence Day. The annual celebration takes place on July 4th to commemorate the establishment of the United States of America in 1776. Fourth of July is quickly approaching. From food and fashion to fireworks there are several ways to display patriotism and celebrate the 245th birthday of America.

Americans young and old are getting into the holiday spirit. One of the most timeless ways to display patriotism on the fourth of July is to wear the symbolic Red White and Blue. Whether your preference is to adorn all three or choose just one, each color has a unique meaning. Wearing red symbolizes valor and hardiness, blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice, while white conveys purity and innocence. Scarves, broaches, hats, and other accessories are also popular items worn to show unity on Independence Day. Any item showcasing the flag or its colors is perfect to demonstrate nationalism and pride. In the words of American Poet Robert Frost, “Freedom lies in being bold.” Don’t be afraid to have fun with your patriotic attire.

Another huge attraction during the fourth of July is the all-American cuisine. Dishes ranging from hot dogs and hamburgers to red white and blue desserts all make their debut for the holiday. There are several patriotic recipes you can prepare for your fourth of July festivities. Try using cookie cutters to shape your fruit into stars, or adding whip cream strawberries and blueberries to your preferred cake flavor as a festive garnish. You can even honor the day by preparing a meal on the grill. Statistically over 74 million Americans barbecue as a nationwide tradition in recognition of the holiday. Enjoying a meal that reflects the history and traditions of the country is a great way to unite and pay homage to customs of the United States.

Small and large crowds gather in fellowship to honor the Fourth of July. There are multiple fun party ideas you can enjoy with friends and loved ones. Some popular events include picnics, firework shows, and barbeques. On a smaller scale, visiting a local landmark or displaying a flag at home or work are also great ways to honor the day.
