Five Ways to Prepare for a Good Night’s Rest

Falling asleep and staying asleep can be tough. Here are five tips to prepare for rest each night. While keeping these tips in mind, it is recommended to start your evening routine at least 30 minutes before you would like to be asleep.

1. Read

It’s always therapeutic to dive into a great story and escape the real world. Reading a few pages of a good book or even a whole chapter may help put your mind at ease. If you’re looking for something new to read, it is always beneficial to ask friends, loved ones for a great recommendation that would be of interest to you. You don’t necessarily have to look for a book that’s going to make you sleep. It is always helpful to read about the things that intrigue your mind.

2. Use an oil diffuser

Create a relaxing ambiance by turning on an oil diffuser to cultivate a serene environment for your senses. Find a calming scent and allow yourself to wind down for the evening. There are calming scents like lavender, rosemary, jasmine, vanilla, cinnamon, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, geranium, and clary sage. Releasing pleasant scents and smells into the evening helps facilitate an environment of tranquility.

3. Moisturize before bed

Moisturizing with your favorite lotion will help to get your body ready to transition to sleep. Before you go to sleep, you should get properly moisturized. Wash your face before you go to sleep with a face wash best suited for your skin type. After washing off, lather up with lotion on your hands, arms, and legs.

4. Wear comfortable sleepwear

Make sure you have on comfortable pajamas and a comfortable shirt. Cotton materials are airy and breezy while being fit for sleeping. Cotton also helps the body remain at a comfortable temperature throughout the night. This will help you remain asleep.

5. Grab a soft blanket

Grab a comfortable blanket to curl up with at night. Cotton and polyester materials are well known for making soft blankets. Many people also use weighted blankets to help them feel safe and secure. It all depends on what feels comfortable for you.
